I will not disappoint you, Olasoju reassures residents as he assumes office

The Executive Chairman of Isolo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Adebayo Olasoju has reassured residents of the council area of transformational development as his tenure begins.

Olasoju, his vice, Hon. Shakir Sadiq Adeola, alongside their counterparts from across the state, were presented with Certificates of Return yesterday, by LASIEC having been declared and certified winners of the chairmanship election held over the weekend.

Olasoju polled 8,776 votes in Isolo LCDA to defeat his sole opponent of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Hon. Tajudeen Bamigboye who had 1,974 votes.

Following the presentation of Certificates of Return at LASIEC’s headquarters, the State Governor Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu sworn the chairmen and vice chairmen and in at the state government house and described their tenure as a new dawn.

Sanwo-Olu commended the electoral commission for conducting a free and fair election noting that the landslide victory the party recorded across the state is a testament that; “APC in Lagos, Lagos is APC.”

He, however, urged the chairmen to eschew partisanship in their governance and carry everyone along and render progressive governance in their respective LGAs and council areas for the betterment of all and sundry.

Speaking during the subsequent glamorous inauguration ceremony in the council later yesterday, the Chairman Hon. Adebayo Olasoju expressed his heartfelt appreciation to every critical stakeholder, resident and electorate in the community for the massive support the party witnessed since the beginning of the campaign and, ultimately, during the election.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by bigwigs in the council area and across the state and also luminaries from all walks of life which include the former party state chairman, Otunba Chief Henry Oladele Ajomale, the paramount ruler of Isolo Kingdom; Osolo of Isolo, His Royal Highness, Oba Kabiru Kolawole Alani Adelaja Agbabiaka, the party Caretaker Chairman in Isolo LCDA, Barrister Gani Bello, Otunba Jide Oni, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, Prince Habeeb Adeshina Faronbi, the lawmaker representing Oshodi-Isolo Constituency at the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon Jude Idimogu, Hon. Niyi Fabiku, the former House of Representatives Member, Hon Joseph Ajatta, first Executive Chairman of the old Oshodi-Isolo LGA Hon. Martins Ayoade Adegboyega, the former vice chairman of the council, Hon Mojeeb Adam, former LGA Party Chairman, Alhaji Wahab Raji, Eze Ndigbo of Lagos State Christian Nwachukwu, the President of Igbo Stakeholders Forum in Lagos State Chapter, Prince Nixon Okwara, the CDC Chairman, Hon Segun Olatunde, the ace TV presenter, Adedoyin Kukoyi, veteran actor Alhaji Ade Aderenle, Gospel musician Lanre Teriba amongst others other party leaders and elders, Religious leaders, ethnic leaders, market women and other political and non-political groups in the council.

Olaosoju, in response to the speeches of the leaders and elders especially that of Chief Henry Oladele Ajomale who had congratulated him and said that he looked forward to his first 100 days in office, reiterated that just as he’d patiently and repeatedly spoke about his transformational plans for the council area during different political gatherings, he will not renege on his constitutional obligations and promise to the community.

He explained that before the first 100 days in office, the community would have experienced transformational development, especially on infrastructural development.

He promised to work hand-in-hand with his vice chairman, Adeola, the councillors as he sought the continuous support of every member of the council area.

His words: “We’ve spoken a lot during the campaign and thank you but what I have to say is that I won’t disappoint you, God will answer my prayers. He won’t make me a disgrace to you. Our father (Ajomale) has said he wants to see what we will do in our 100 days but by then God will surprise us all.

“I told our people in the corner that this is not the time to bombard the chairman with our personal issues, we will attend to them all but let’s tar our roads (infrastructural development) before then and I know that you’ll support me. God will support us. I want to assure the youths like we’ve said that it’s not time for hooliganism in Isolo. Our vocational centres will be opened, if you’re ready to learn work we will do that. We have opened it for tailoring, bathing and everything. We won’t just make you learn, we will empower you. Our women will be engaged, this government will be for all the women. If we empower the women we’ve empowered the nation. We will have proper leaders and elders that will be constituted and with that, the leaders will be able to guide us aright. I’ve told Baba and I have his express approval that we will have we will have proper women and elders that will be constituted with that the leaders will be able to guide us aright, they will be able to call us back when they feel we are walking too fast. I’ve told the women, the monthly women meeting will return to the council. Your imprest will not fail, Kabiyesi. Empowerment and scholarship will be in place.

“My phone is opened, please call for cogent issues. I won’t disappoint my party, what’s meant for everyone will be given to them, by God’s grace I won’t disappoint you.”

The colourful and historical event was rounded off with classical music performances by Aduke Gold, Lanre Teriba and the legendary Wasiu Ayinde Marshal.
