How Obe secured jobs for graduates in private sector – Ebitigha

Former Senior Special Adviser (SSA) to the chairman of Ejigbo LCDA on Employment and Job Creation, Mr Gbenga Ebitigha has described how the council chairman’s strategy to execute his 7-point agenda got jobs for many graduates.

The chairman, Hon. Monsurudeen Bello Obe has been returned to office for a second term.

Ebitigha said he worked closely with the council boss to reduce unemployment by training young graduates on how to prepare for interviews before recommending them to banks and laboratories for jobs.

Explaining that his office set up a databank of trainees for easy selection during referral, he noted that some of the graduates got jobs in public primary and secondary schools adding that they were also notified of new vacancies.

Ebitigha said women and youths trained in vocations were engaged in vocations were provided working equipment such as grinding machine, vulcanizing machine, tricycles, sewing machine, among others to ensure that they became self employed and to also train others who were not able to attend the training within the community.

He, however, encouraged youths who run away from private jobs to change their mindset and continue to widen their knowledge.

He said: “Majority of the youths are less interested in working with private firms because they believe they would be physically and mentally drained. This is why  most of them seek government job which they assume is less hectic. I advise them that their attitude towards life has to change for the country to progress as Obe is tirelessly paving every possible way to ensure all youths in his community are gainfully engaged in order to records less or no criminal cases.”

He also urged unemployed youths to always look out for information posted on all community group chats saying the council makes use of  social media to disseminate job vacancies.
