Health Issues Forces Ogundiran Out Of Commonwealth Games 2026
By Saheed Afolabi
Blessing Ogundiran has been ruled out of the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games because of health issues.
This have however dealt a fresh blow to Team Nigeria’s track ambitions after Israel Okon was earlier forced to pull out through injury.
Ogundiran withdrawal leaves Nigeria chances in the women’s sprints on the threadline. Rosemary Chukwuma and teenage debutant Miracle Ezechukwu now shoulder the country’s hopes in the 100m.
Despite the setbacks, Nigeria still enters a key day on the track with solid medal chances.
Favour Ashe, Kayinsola Ajayi and Nicholas Fakorede have all advanced to the men’s 100m semi-finals, while Chukwuma and Ezechukwu remain in contention in the women’s race as the team looks to build on its strong medal tally in Glasgow.
