The primate and supreme head of Salvation Of Life Evangelical Church (SOLEC), Elder Dr Anthony Omoyele-Adu (Spiritual Joshua) has urged fellow religious leaders in the locality and across the country to encourage their members to get involved in political activities at various levels in the country.

Omoyele-Adu said this while delivering a lecture as the guest speaker at the maiden convention of the Organisation of African Instituted Churches (OAIC), Isolo Chapter, organised last Friday.

The convention themed ‘OAIC AGOG’ which was the first of its kind by any local chapter of the religious body was held at the chapter’s secretariat, Oke-Igbala Ayo Spiritual Church (C&S), Isolo.

Speaking on the topic ‘Religion: Pivot to good governance’, Omoyele-Adu emphasised that various challenges bedevilling the nation could be better solved if various religious leaders encouraged their followers to live up to the moral responsibility of influencing public policy for the good of the populace and ultimately getting involved in a leadership position as biblically authorised, citing Genesis 1:26 and 28.

He emphasised that religion have a pivotal role to play in the delivery of good governance in the country stressing that political leaders need to get themselves closer to God by seeking wisdom from the words of Gods and imbibing various religious teachings.

The Chairman of OAIC, Isolo Chapter Prophet Dr Adebayo Adeniji

His words: “You can not devoid religion from good governance. There’s no way because, we, as a religious body, are human beings and God has given us the responsibility to partake and ensure that our surroundings are being cared for. We (the nation) are faced with various national issues because we’ve dumped religion and we only have it on our lips and not in-depth from our minds and had it been the government of this country takes religions and their various good teachings important Nigeria would have been better than this.

“Leaders of religious beliefs should encourage their members to get involved in politics to ensure a positive change in the governance.

“Our political leaders, as well, need to imbibe the words of God, they need to see the word of God as very important, they need to read it day-in-day-out because it is the word of God that will help them to lead us aright.”

Speaking about the convention, the chairperson of the organisation who also doubles as the founder of Seal of Life Cathedral (SOLIC) Prophet Dr Adebayo Adeniji explained the decision to pioneer the  program at the local level was informed by the need to propagate the objectives of the organization at the grassroots.

He, however, revealed that the convention will be an annual event, henceforth.
