Nigeria produced a commanding performance to defeat Brazil 3-0 and book their place in the final of the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup.

The Nigerian youngsters delivered an impressive display, with Queen Joseph and Awawu Bashiru finding the net to secure a memorable victory over the South Americans.

After a closely contested opening period, the Flamingos eventually broke the deadlock in the 56th minute through Queen Joseph, who put Nigeria ahead and gave the team the confidence to take greater control of the encounter.

Nigeria continued to press for more goals and doubled their advantage in the 71st minute when Awawu Bashiru found the back of the net to put Brazil under further pressure.

Bashiru was not finished, however, as she struck again in the 80th minute to complete her brace and seal an emphatic 3-0 victory for Nigeria.

The convincing result underlined the Flamingos’ quality and determination as they overcame one of the tournament’s traditional powerhouses to move within touching distance of the world title.

Greise Kelly got on the scoresheet for Brazil, reducing the deficit in the 89 minute. Nigeria held on and secure their place in the final.

The Flamingos will now turn their attention to the final, where they will face Japan and have the opportunity to crown their remarkable journey with the ultimate prize.
