Farmers look forward to govts’ support

Members of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), Oshodi-Isolo LG chapter are seeking  support from the federal and state government.

The chairman of the association, Alhaji Sikiru Adegbemi told his members that the officials of the state government would soon come to the local government area to address farmers on their needs.

He added that the state officials would also enlighten the farmers on how to get the Federal Government support to small scale farmers.

He said needs to be coordinated before the commencement of farm inspection by the government officials.

Adegbemi told ECHONEWS that he has explained to the members that the support to small scale farmers is not financial support but will be equipment needed by each farmer to expand their farming activities.

He informed that the state officials will come around to inspect the various types of farm activities each individual farmer is into such as animal rearing, poultry, fishery, snail, vegetable planting and others so as to ascertain what each farmer needs to be supported with for the business to grow.

Regarding the support, all farmers are expected to get ready for the set up committee that will deal with the inspection process before the disbursement of farm equipment to the local farmers in a proper coordination.

The AFAN Vice Chairperson, Oshodi chapter, Alhaja Folake Kasali, charged executive members of the association to search for other new farmers in Oshodi environ to carry them along in the support programme meant for the local farmers.

ECHONEWS gathered that the support is applicable to all the local farmers in Lagos State to help develop agriculture in the local, state and the country at large.
