– Experts enlighten teachers on modern teaching techniques
As schools prepare to resume for a new session across the state, educational experts have charged the teachers to be abreast of information that could change their teaching methods in line with the modern professional practice.
The experts, who spoke during the 2019 annual teachers training seminar of the League of Muslim School Proprietors (LEAMSP), Oshodi-Isolo Zone held at Nasrullah School Hall, Mafoluku, Oshodi, enlightened the teachers on pedagogy fit for the new generation of students.
Speaking on the theme ‘The Making of 21st Century Muslim Teachers’, one of the guest lecturers, Mrs. Muinat Adedokun said a 21st century teacher must have five personalities which she summarised with acronym (OCEAN) – Openness, Conscientiousness, Extra fashion attitude, Admirable and Neuroticism.
Also speaking, Mr. Oladepo Abdhameed a senior teacher at Ewutuntun Senior Grammar School, Oshodi mentioned eight points that can make one become 21st century teacher which include Clarity, Activism, Mastery of subject, Energetic, Optimism, Prayer, Honesty and Intensity.
While the Head Mistress of Torch Bearer Muslim School, Ejigbo, Mrs. Mujidah Oyebo educated the participants on how to make their classroom attractive to student with practical demonstrated of classroom decoration.
The Chairperson of the occasion, Mrs. Monsurat Okewale, the Proprietor of Vicegerent School, said the seminar was aimed at rejuvenating the teachers and acquainting them with the 21st century techniques of teachers ahead of new academic session.
She believed that over 300 teachers who participated in the programme from 32 schools in and around Oshodi Local Government Area would spread the teaching across the local council area.
