Nigeria midfielder Joy Igbokwe has expressed her excitement after making her debut for the Super Falcons, describing the opportunity to represent the country at senior level as a privilege.

Igbokwe made her first appearance for the ten time African champions during their 2028 Olympic Games qualifying campaign against Comoros, marking an important milestone in her football career.

Speaking exclusively to ECHONEWS, the midfielder said she was delighted to get the opportunity and remained committed to working hard to establish herself in the national team.

“Well, I’m so happy and excited for this opportunity and privilege, just working,” Igbokwe said.

The midfielder explained that although her debut might have come earlier than she anticipated, she had always been prepared to seize any opportunity offered to her.

“Well, I will not say so fast, but I was ready for any opportunity that would be given, and, yeah, I was ready for any opportunity that was going to be given to me.”

Looking ahead, Igbokwe said her priority was to remain focused, dedicated and willing to learn as she seeks to improve and make a lasting contribution to the Super Falcons.

“My target is just to stay focused and be dedicated to the team and always be open for improvement and learning.”
