Empowerment scheme: NGO trains 1000 youths in Oshodi

In line with the government’s policy on poverty eradication and job  creation, the Necessary Measures Against Poverty Perversity (NMAPP) in conjunction with All Progressive Congress Volunteers (APCV) has commenced three weeks skill acquisition training at the UNNDP building at Oshodi Local Government Secretariat, starting from 20th Feb.2018.

The program, which was declared opened by the Special Assistant to Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, on Civil Matters, Kehinde Joseph, was designed to train 1000 youths from all the communities within Oshodi LGA.

Speaking about the program, Joseph reiterated the commitment of Ambode towards skill acquisition which, he said, would boost the country’s economy and reduce the problem of unemployment.

He advised the participants to take the opportunity with both hands, promising 15 best students from each of the available training courses opportunity of Lagos State Employment Trust Fund to commence their businesses.

A member of Lagos State House of Assembly representing Oshodi-Isolo constituency 1, Hon. Hakeem Olushola  Shokunle, implored the participants to be serious while undergoing the training exercise so as to become their own bosses, self dependant and reduce unemployment rate in the country.

The Head of Operations of the program, Mrs. Adejuwon listed the available courses to be offered to include Gele and makeup techniques, liquid and bathing soap, perfumes, sanitizer, shoe and bag making as well as fabric designing.

She pointed out that participants could offer only one course to bring about mastery of skill in a field chosen.
