Ejigbo CDC launches ITOKASI newsletter

The Community Development Committee (CDC), Ejigbo LCDA, has launched a 56-page newsletter with the title ‘ITOKASI’ to showcase the activities of the CDC and each of the CDAs in the council area.

The periodic publication, according to the committee, is produced to also project the activities of the council chairman, Hon. Monsuru Bello (Obe) and the countless community services he has done in the last few years of his administration.

 

 

 

The CDC chairman, Prince Jelili Atiku, told ECHONEWS that the idea of the newsletter production came as the association was striving to find a way of keeping records of activities of the CDC and CDAs.

Atiku explained that the CDC was faced with the challenge of Covid-19 pandemic in carrying out its activities but was still able to record some achievements.

“We assumed office on the third day after Federal Ministry of Health confirmed a coronavirus disease case in Lagos State. Indeed, the trauma of Covid-19 was high and the struggle to stop it and or mitigate its effects on us and our communities became so intense and challenging.

“One of the principles we adopted as a guiding leadership method was to understand the essence of the moment,” he said.

Speaking on the production of the newsletter, the Public Relations Officer of the CDC, Mr. Toyin Saka, explained that the masthead given to the publication “ITOKASI” was carefully chosen to describe the greatness of the CDAs in Ejigbo among other CDAs in Lagos State and also to have references to the activities of each CDA.

 

 

 

He said: “CDAs in Ejigbo LCDA are not exception in execution of capital projects and as such, the current CDC has the responsibility to ensure that CDAs are encouraged to embark on capital intensive projects in order to fast track development in Ejigbo and also to compete with CDAs in other local government areas at the annual Lagos State Community Day celebration.

He further explained that the newsletter is not only limited to the report of community care but the experiences of Covid-19 pandemic, CDAs self help projects as well as other issues affecting the community such as causes of flood in Oke-Afa and many more.
