Education stakeholders pledge support for Olasoju, other APC candidates

The leaderships of Parent Forum (PF) and School-Based Management Committee (SMBC) in the 14 public primary schools in Isolo LCDA have pledged their support for the candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the coming local government elections.

They made this known in response to the appeal by the chairmanship candidate of the party, Hon. Adebayo Olasoju seeking their support during their stakeholders’ meeting jointly organised by the central leadership of the committee, the parent forum and the Education Secretary of the Local Government Education Authority, Barr. Femi Ogunwusi at Akibaye Primary School, Isolo recently.

The Central Chairman of SBMC, Hon. Olukunle Bajela, explained that the leadership of the committee had invited the chairmanship candidate to acquaint him with the peculiar challenges facing schools in the community and also on the need to give preference to the associations in his government.

He said SBMC, a committee set up by government and constituted by community stakeholders to provide support for schools in their communities, has been up and doing with its obligations but needs recognition by the local government to be included in governance.

Responding, Olasoju promised that his administration will work closely with the LGEA and other stakeholders in the education sector to raise the standard and quality of education in public schools in the council area.

Boasting to be a product of public schools having had his primary and secondary education in the ancient Farombi Nursery and Primary School and Matori Grammar School respectively, Olasoju said much attention will be given to education sector during his tenure, putting priority on primary education.

He disclosed some of his plans to include regular Back-to-School programme, construction of additional ICT centre in the council area, construction of E-Library all to complement the effort of the state government in the education sector and ensure that pupils in public schools in the council area brilliantly and victoriously compete with their counterparts across the state.

He also promised to provide more infrastructures and security in the schools.

Expressing confidence in the promises, the Education Secretary encouraged the executive and members of the committee and forum to take the message to their various communities and work for the success of the party at the polls.

He informed that such meeting will also be head with the APC candidates in Ejigbo and Oshodi as well.
