Drama in Oshodi as Danfo Driver Suddenly Slumps Behind Wheel

A commercial bus driver reportedly fainted while driving towards Oshodi Garage in Lagos earlier today, causing panic among passengers and bystanders.
The incident occurred shortly after 11am as the driver was heading towards the garage to load passengers.
Eyewitnesses said the danfo veered slightly before eventually coming to a stop near the entrance of the garage. Passengers reportedly raised the alarm after noticing that the driver had slumped over the steering wheel.
One of the passengers, who asked not to be identified, said the incident happened suddenly.
“He just slumped on the steering. We were all scared and started shouting,” the passenger said.
A trader who witnessed the incident said people around the garage quickly rushed to assist the driver.
“People around quickly rushed to the bus and splashed water on him. That was what brought him back,” the trader said.
Officials of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, at Oshodi Garage confirmed the incident, saying the driver regained consciousness after receiving first aid at the scene.
The union officials said the driver did not require hospitalisation but was advised to rest before resuming work.
Fatigue was suspected to have contributed to the incident, although the exact cause of the driver’s sudden loss of consciousness was not immediately established.
The NURTW officials urged commercial drivers to prioritise their health and undergo regular medical checks to reduce the risk of health emergencies while driving.
Normal activities have since resumed at Oshodi Garage, while the affected bus was moved from the area.
