The Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Ejigbo police divisional headquarters, CSP Olabisi Okuwobi has enlightened the youths on the fundamental human rights, warning them against violating others’ rights.

The DPO, who received a group of students from Mayor B Academy, Ejigbo, who came to the police station for an excursion, said the only way anyone could forfeit their own rights is to infringe on other people’s rights.

She highlighted rights to liberty, freedom of speech, rights to education among others and explained to the students that rights to education is that every child must go to school.

“You have right to all these but the day you violate other people’s right, your own rights will also be seized as you may be incarcerated,” she told them.

She urged the students to always endeavour to live right in the society and to be agents of peace.

The DPO further revealed to the students that the idea of policing came from the Garden of Eden, in the Bible, when Adam and Eve sinned against God and were sent out of the garden, and an angel was set at the entrance of the garden with sword in his hand to guard the garden from allowing anyone in.

The teacher, who led the students on the excursion, Mrs. Juliet Paul, said the students were taken on the excursion to know more about the laws and their rights to compliment the topic on constitution in school.
