Don’t patronise unregistered real estate agent, expert warns clients

A Real Estate expert, Afaha Victor has warned prospective clients who seek to buy or rent houses to desist from patronising the agents who are not duly registered by the authorised bodies to avoid being defrauded.

The CEO of Afaha Victor & CO. Real Estate Property and Agent Management at Boladale, Oshodi alerted that a genuine real estate agent must be registered by the Association of Property Investments and Commission Agents of Nigeria (APICAN) and must also be recognised by the Lagos state Real Estate Transaction Department (LASRETRAD), Ministry of Housing at Ikeja, Alausa Secretariat to avoid dubious actions.

He also mentioned that the association has a disciplinary committee that handles any fraudulent act caught on agents and that such would be referred to police station for further investigations and prosecution.

He advised clients to seek the services of registered housing agents with an identified office and good reputations before committing their money into the hand of such agent.
