Davies To Serenade Guests at Rotary Awards

Renowned jazz artist Yinka Davies will entertain guests, including journalists and Rotarians, at the Rotary District 9110 Humanitarian Reporting Awards.

The event is set to take place on April 17, 2024, at Keystone Hall in Ikeja GRA, Lagos.

The awards ceremony aims to recognize journalists for their positive coverage of Rotary’s humanitarian projects within Lagos and Ogun states. Awards will be given out in fifteen categories to honor outstanding media coverage of Rotary clubs and District 9110 activities.

According to Rotarian Olalekan Otun, the Vice Chairman of the Awards Committee, the keynote address at the event will be delivered by Mr. Gbenga Adefaye, the Provost of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ). Dr. John Momoh, the Chairman of Channels TV Media Group, will be the special guest of honor, while Prince Julius Adelusi-Adeluyi, a former Minister of Health and past District Governor, will be the guest of honor. Chief Olusegun Osoba, the former Governor of Ogun State and a prominent figure in Nigerian journalism, will serve as the chairman of the awards ceremony.

Rotary District 9110, which currently covers Lagos and Ogun States, will split into two districts – District 9111 with Rotn Dr. Wole Kukoyi as District Governor-elect and District 9112 with Rotn Femi Adenekan as District Governor-elect starting from July 1, 2024.

The categories and nominees include : Best TV station in reportage of Rotary clubs and District 9110 activities: Arise News, Channels TV and TVC ; nominees for Best newspaper in the reportage of Rotary humanitarian activities : The Guardian, This day and Telegraph ; Best online newspaper in the coverage of Rotary District 9110 and clubs activities, nominees are : Legend News online, Brand Times Online and News Spy Online ; Best TV station in online reportage of Rotary activities, nominees are : NTA, Arise News and TVC.

Other nominees are : Outstanding journalist in the coverage of Rotary District 9110 and clubs activities : TVC’s Theophilus Elamah, Mosunmola Ogeolu, Arise News and Eniola Popoola , TVC ; Outstanding print reporter in the coverage of Rotary District 9110 and Clubs’ activities, nominees are : The Nation’s Mr Joseph Eshanokpe, The Guardian’s Mr Isaac Taiwo and New Telegraph’s Mr Tony Okuyeme; Outstanding club Public Image Chairman nominees are: Rotarian Ifeoma Williams , Rotary club of Lagos; Rotarian Oyinlola Sale, Rotary club of Akowonjo and Rotarian B. Adesan, Rotary club of Ajah Golden.
