The 2026 edition of Felabration, the annual festival celebrating Afrobeat pioneer Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, ended on Sunday, October 18, after 7 days of music, cultural expression and live performances at the New Afrika Shrine in Lagos.
The festival’s final weekend featured performances by established and emerging Nigerian artistes, with Daddy Showkey, Peruzzi, L.A.X, Barry Jhay and Hotkeed among those who entertained fans on Saturday, October 17.
Daddy Showkey brought his signature Galala sound to the stage, while other performers delivered a mix of popular hits and contemporary Nigerian music.
Ruggedman, Ice Prince, Shoday, Ortodefemi and Tee Famous were also featured in Saturday’s programme, bringing together different generations of musicians as the festival approached its conclusion.
The closing concert on Sunday featured Kacy, Ay Flowz, Sean Tizzle, Kcer and Femi Kuti, among other performers listed for the final day.
Femi Kuti’s appearance highlighted the Kuti family’s continuing connection to the festival and the musical legacy of his father, Fela, whose work remains central to the annual celebration.
This year’s festival was themed “Who Are You?”, a message exploring identity, individuality and self-expression through themes associated with Fela’s music, activism and cultural influence.
Throughout the week, Felabration provided a platform for artistes to showcase their talents while celebrating Nigerian music and culture.
The festival has also continued to bring together performers from different musical backgrounds, reinforcing its role in honouring Fela’s influence on Nigerian music and the wider global Afrobeat movement.
With the closing concert at the New Afrika Shrine, Felabration 2026 brought its week-long programme to an end, keeping alive the legacy of one of Africa’s most influential musicians.
