The Ikeja Magistrates’ Court is prosecuting two defendants for allegely stealing from flour bags.

The accused: Damilare Mustapha, a resident in Ibadan and Ali Abiodun, a motor boy who resides at Abule Egba in Lagos, of ages 25 and 24 respectively, stole the items as employees of Honeywell Flour Company.

The duo are being tried for conspiracy and stealing.

The prosecutor, ASP Raji Akeem, told the court that the defendants committed the alleged offences on Feb. 16, 2024, when they were asked to deliver the company’s items to one Fafem Haulage Nigeria Ltd in Abule Egba, Lagos.

Akeem told the court that the duo allegedly stopped on the way and scooped some flour from the 300 bags to be dispatched, reducing the quantity in each of the bags, which forced the customer to reject the consignment.

The prosecutor said the offences contravened Sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Magistrate Bola Osunsanmi, presiding over the case, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N300,000 each with two sureties in like sum.

Osunsanmi, thereafter, adjourned the case until May 16.
