The chairman of Epe Local Government, Princess Surah Animashaun, has restated her commitment towards improving the standard of living and well-being of the entire residents of Epe, just as she commenced immediate rehabilitation of two street drains to improve infrastructural development in the community and avert destructive flood.

The ongoing projects are rehabilitation of drains at Alausa and Popo Oba streets to enable free flow of water from source to its destination.

The project is being supervised by Works & Infrastructure Department of the local government and is to be completed in three months.

The Chairman, who was represented by the Supervisor for Civic Engagement, Hon. Sikiru Rahmon and the Special Adviser on Works, Hon. Ashiru Waheed, during the inspection of the ongoing projects, said that the council is committed to the service of the people.

She said she has gradually given a progressive approach to the provisions of social and infrastructural development, regular environmental sanitation, healthcare services, maintenance of peace and adequate security of lives and properties.

“The rehabilitation of these drains will maintain the surface of the road and its foundation as dry as possible with water and also maintain the stability and durability of the road and then attract more developments in the area.

“This is necessary due to the deplorable state of these drainages to reduce the risk of flooding during this rainy period as well as to make the drainage system useful. It would open up the drainage system to ensure a free flow of water and protect major roads in the community,” she said.

The council boss then assured residents of her unalloyed commitment in making Epe habitable for all and sundry, thereby delivering the gains of democracy to the people at the grassroots.
