Commonwealth Games 2026: Ochonogor Laments Exclusion From Long Jump
By Saheed Afolabi
Nigerian long jumper Prestina Ochonogor has voiced deep disappointment after being barred from competing in the women’s long jump at the 2026 Commonwealth Games.
In an emotional social media post, the athlete questioned how she could receive multiple competition bib numbers yet still be prevented from taking part.
“Please tell me, is it possible to have six bib numbers in one competition and still you can’t compete? Or is it possible to get a bib number without registration? My heart is broken and bleeding. So much sacrifice, yet being treated like nothing,” she wrote.
Her outburst has drawn concern from Nigerian athletics fans, many of whom are demanding a clear explanation from officials about the circumstances that led to her exclusion.
The Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) is however yet to respond to the backlash from the long jumper.
