Commonwealth Games 2026: Ezekiel Nathaniel Storms to Gold in Men’s 400m Hurdles

Nigeria’s medal tally at the 2026 Commonwealth Games received another significant lift on as Ezekiel Nathaniel delivered a commanding performance to claim gold in the men’s 400 metres hurdles in Glasgow.
Nathaniel stopped the clock in an impressive 48.47 seconds, controlling the race from the outset before surging clear over the final bend to cross the line well clear of the field. England’s Jake Minshull took silver in 48.99 seconds, while Jamaica’s Assinie Wilson secured bronze with 49.22 seconds.
The victory further cements Nathaniel’s standing as one of Africa’s leading quarter-mile hurdlers and adds another gold to Team Nigeria’s growing collection in Glasgow.
This also disclose the country’s strong showing in athletics at these Games, with Nigerian athletes continuing to produce world-class performances against the Commonwealth’s best.
Celebrations erupted among the Nigerian contingent as teammates and officials hailed Nathaniel’s composed and dominant display.
