The Chairman of Odiołowo-Ojuwoye LCDA, Mr. Rasaq Olusola Ajala, took a step towards inclusivity and easing economic difficulties by distributing relief items to the Christian community in the area.

During the distribution, Ajala stressed the importance of religious harmony and encouraged the community to look beyond political and tribal differences.

He mentioned the LCDA’s tradition of aiding both Muslim and Christian groups during religious occasions, but also pointed out the urgent need to tackle economic challenges worsened by the removal of oil subsidies.

Ajala announced the distribution of food staples like rice, eggs, and yams to support one thousand Christian community members.

“This initiative, part of the LCDA’s ongoing efforts to alleviate hardship, follows previous interventions where rice, live chickens, clothes, and financial assistance were provided to stakeholders,” he said.

He also announced a subsidized food program set to launch in April, with the goal of stabilizing market prices and guaranteeing food security for residents.

He highlighted the low cost of important goods like eggs, called “Ẹyin Ajala,” which will be sold at a reduced price to help households.

Ajala emphasized the importance of the local council’s support in addition to federal and state efforts. He highlighted the necessity of collaboration among all levels of government to tackle the socio-economic issues affecting citizens effectively.

“This intervention is to support and cushion the effects of the temporary hardship people are facing as a result of the removal of fuel subsidy and the obvious economic crisis in the country,” he said.

“The distribution of food palliatives to the Christian community not only exemplifies our dedication to inclusive governance but also serves as a beacon of hope amidst economic uncertainties, fostering unity and resilience within the Odiołowo-Ojuwoye LCDA,” he concluded.
