Innovators, startups, social enterprises and organisations developing technology-driven healthcare solutions can apply for the 2027 MIT Solve Global Health Challenge for an opportunity to receive a US$10,000 Solver Award, access expert support and connect with a global network of partners.

Organised by MIT Solve, an initiative of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the challenge seeks innovative solutions that make quality healthcare more accessible, affordable and equitable, particularly for underserved communities.

Applications are open to innovators worldwide, including eligible applicants from Nigeria and other African countries. The deadline for submissions is November 2, 2026, at 12 noon Eastern Time.

About the MIT Solve Global Health Challenge

The 2027 Global Health Challenge aims to identify technology-enabled innovations that address pressing healthcare challenges and strengthen health systems.

MIT Solve is particularly interested in solutions that improve continuity of care during disease outbreaks, climate-related emergencies, conflicts and funding disruptions. Other priority areas include the prevention and management of noncommunicable diseases, mental health conditions, and the healthcare needs of ageing populations.

The challenge also seeks innovations that expand access to quality primary healthcare for vulnerable communities by supporting frontline health workers and reducing barriers associated with cost, distance and administrative processes.

Applicants may use technologies such as artificial intelligence, mobile applications, software, SMS platforms, robotics and other evidence-based approaches. Traditional, ancestral and natural technologies may also qualify when they address practical healthcare needs.

Benefits of the Challenge

Selected teams will receive a US$10,000 Solver Award to support their work. They will also gain access to MIT Solve’s innovation network, which connects selected innovators with potential funders, industry experts, mentors and implementation partners.

The programme offers opportunities for mentorship, capacity building, technical support and greater visibility for promising solutions. Selected teams may also be considered for additional prize funding, subject to the eligibility requirements and selection criteria of the relevant awards.

The opportunity is particularly relevant to health technology startups, social entrepreneurs and organisations seeking to scale solutions that improve healthcare delivery and outcomes in underserved communities.
