Applications are now open for the 2026 Baobab Platform Mentorship Programme.

Thia is an initiative designed to connect young Africans with experienced professionals and role models for career, personal and professional development.

The programme is delivered by the Baobab Platform in partnership with Global Give Back Circle and is targeted at African youth seeking guidance as they navigate their education, career choices and professional aspirations.

About the Programme

The Baobab Mentorship Programme provides participants with an opportunity to build meaningful relationships with experienced mentors who can offer practical guidance tailored to their individual goals.

Participants are matched with mentors based on factors including career goals, interests, professional aspirations, personal development objectives and gender-matching considerations. Mentors may come from the public or private sector.

The initiative forms part of Baobab’s broader focus on helping young African leaders access professional development, networking, learning, career opportunities and mentorship. The platform also provides courses and opportunities for Mastercard Foundation programme participants and alumni.

What Participants Can Gain

Successful mentees can benefit from:

  • One-on-one mentorship and career guidance
  • Access to experienced professionals and role models
  • Support with personal and professional development
  • Leadership and work-readiness development
  • Career-focused advice and perspectives
  • Networking and peer-learning opportunities
  • Connections with professionals across the public and private sectors.

Who Can Apply?

The 2026 programme is open to African youth aged 18 to 30 who are interested in mentorship relating to their education, career development, professional growth and personal aspirations.

Applicants should be prepared to clearly communicate their career interests, goals and areas where they would benefit from mentorship, as these factors are considered during the mentor-matching process.

Important Application Requirement

Prospective applicants must first complete the Baobab Mentorship Course before submitting their application.

Applicants are required to:

  1. Create or log into a Baobab Platform account.
  2. Complete the required Mentorship on Baobab course.
  3. Obtain the course completion certificate.
