Apply Now: KijaniSpace Offers Up to €5,000 for AgriTech
Small businesses and start-ups in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania can now apply for the KijaniSpace Space-IoT Innovation Programme.
This is an initiative supporting the development of climate-smart agricultural solutions across the Lake Victoria Basin.
Supported by Horizon Europe, the programme is designed to help agriculture-focused businesses improve existing products, services and applications by integrating Copernicus Earth Observation data, Internet of Things (IoT) technologies and Space-IoT Box resources.
The initiative targets businesses already working on agriculture-related solutions and provides them with technical and financial support to test, enhance and demonstrate innovative applications that can respond to climate and agricultural challenges.
Funding Opportunity
Selected participants can receive up to €5,000 per innovation experiment.
The funding is intended to cover eligible actual costs directly connected to approved innovation experiments. This can enable participating businesses to test new technologies, improve existing solutions and explore practical applications of space and IoT technologies within agriculture.
What the Programme Supports
The KijaniSpace programme focuses on helping businesses integrate space-based and digital technologies into agricultural solutions.
Participants can explore the use of:
- Copernicus Earth Observation data for monitoring and analysing environmental and agricultural conditions.
- Internet of Things (IoT) technologies for collecting and transmitting data from agricultural environments.
- Space-IoT Box resources to support experimentation and development of technology-enabled solutions.
- Climate-smart approaches designed to strengthen agricultural productivity and resilience.
The programme particularly seeks solutions that can address real-world agricultural challenges within the Lake Victoria Basin.
Who Can Apply?
The opportunity is open to SMEs and start-ups based in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania that already have an agriculture-related product, service or application that can be further developed through the integration of space and IoT technologies.
Applicants should demonstrate how their proposed innovation experiment can use the available technologies and resources to improve their existing solution and address a relevant agricultural or climate-related challenge.
