APC Primaries: Olasoju preaches peace to co-contestants

The leading contender for the chairmanship ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the coming local government election in Isolo LCDA, Hon. Bayo Olasoju has advised his fellow aspirants on peace and orderly conduct as they head into the party’s primaries this weekend.
Olasoju, the incumbent council vice-chairman, is seeking to be the third executive council chairman of the LCDA as he hoped to fend off competition from four other aspirants in the party for the lofty seat.
Other aspirants in the race are the former council vice-chairman, Hon. Mojeeb Adam, former House of Representatives Member, Hon. Akeem Muniru, former sole administrator of Oshodi-Isolo LGA, Hon. Taoheed Taiwo and Hon. Toheeb Aregbeshola.
While chatting with ECHONEWS, Olasoju expressed his optimism for a favourable outcome in the polls, noting that he received a warm reception and acceptability from stakeholders and political leaders in all wards during his tour around the council area.
He, however, appreciated the leaders and stakeholders in the party for their encouraging supports as well as his fellow contestants for making the competition worthwhile so far.
He advised them against violence and politics of calumny during and after the primary as he explained that after the primaries the focus of all should be on how to make the party victorious in the general election.
Speaking about Saturday’s election, he said: “I see Saturday’s primary as a family meeting and we will return peacefully so that our party will be victorious in the general election.
“My advice to my fellow contestants is just peace, let’s respect ourselves and the party. Let’s always think that after the primary comes the general election, because our party is supreme, because our party is our party, we must not wash out dirty linens outside all in the name of primaries and that’s my advice. Let’s shun violence or any undemocratic conduct during the primaries and beyond, let’s all come together to work for the victory of our party on July 24.”
