Nigeria boxer, Aishat Gbadamosi has vowed to continue pursuing her boxing career after suffering a disputed 3-1 defeat to Algeria’s Douaa Rouaz at the African Boxing Elite Championships in Nairobi, Kenya.

Gbadamosi lost to Rouaz in the women’s featherweight (54-57kg) category, but the Nigerian remained defiant, insisting that the setback would not discourage her from pursuing her ambitions in the sport.

The boxer expressed confidence in her ability to improve from the experience, maintaining that her responsibility was to give her best inside the ring while leaving the technical officials to perform their duties.

“I believe in my ability, and I will take this experience to improve myself. My responsibility is to fight and give my best inside the ring. The technical officials have their own responsibilities,” Gbadamosi said.

Despite the controversial outcome, the Nigerian described the championship experience as one she would cherish for a long time, adding that she had no intention of allowing the defeat to derail her career.

“This is an experience I will cherish for a very long time. I am not disappointed. I will keep moving forward in my boxing career. I am a boxer, and I was born a boxer,” she added.

Gbadamosi’s comments underline her determination to move beyond the disputed decision and use the experience as motivation to improve her performance in future competitions.

The African Boxing Elite Championships in Nairobi provides a platform for the continent’s leading boxers to test their abilities against top opposition as they seek to establish themselves on the African boxing scene.
