AFCON 2027 Race: Guinea Bissau Gaffer Defends Bad Pitch Concerns Ahead Of Nigeria Clash

Guinea Bissau coach, Emiliano Té has defended the bad state of the Estádio Nacional 24 de Setembro, Bissau venue of the 2027 Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Nigeria.
The torrential rainfall in Bissau has deteriorated the pitch ahead of the Djurtus match against the Super Eagles.
Despite the widespread concerns over the suitability of the pitch, Té argued that nothing can be done about the durability of the pitch but admitted the playing surface isn’t among the best in Africa.
“We are playing in Africa and we know that our pitch is not one of the best, but it is what it is. It is what we have and we cannot do anything about it,” the Guinea-Bissau coach said at the pre-match press conference.
He confessed that, Guinea Bissau also doesn’t like playing on the stadium present condition due they have no choice than to accept their faith.
“We also don’t like to play on it the way it is now, but we can’t control that because it is raining and they try their best to make it good.”
The Djurtus defeated AFCON 2027 co-hosts, Tanzania 2-0 in their first qualifier while they face giant, Super Eagles in their biggest test on Tuesday, September 29.
