As the summer holidays commence, educationists have told the students to make use of their holidays judiciously by learning new skills that could be useful for them after their academics.
The Principal of Oke Afa Junior School, Jakande Estate Ejigbo, Mrs Williams Owolabi, said the period should not be all about academics, stating that the students should engage in something different from academics such as learning new skills in artisanship and attending talk lectures that would motivate them.
She stressed: “My advice for them is to do things they don’t have time to do while the school is in session. All the things you cannot do while in school should be done to maximise this holiday.”
The proprietress of Gabsolarose Schools, Ejigbo, Mrs. Omotola Shobande, also admonished the students to engage in skill acquisition programmes as well as try to be involved in all that could add value to them academically.
She stressed that the holiday should be a period for the students to acquire more practical experiences of the knowledge that could better their lives.
