2027 polls: Ambode mobilises grassroots structures for Tinubu, Hamzat 2027…
Former Governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode, has commenced a widespread political mobilisation across his structures in support of President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid and the governorship ambition of Deputy Governor, Dr Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The former governor has directed his key political associates, loyalists, and grassroots networks to immediately begin grassroots alignment and engagement across the state to secure victory for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to a statement released by his political structure, the strategic mobilization effort aims to unite various grassroots blocs, including Community Development Associations (CDAs), market men and women, artisan groups, and persons living with disabilities.
The statement read in part: “The message is clear: unity must translate into action, relationships must translate into stronger alliances, and collective commitment must translate into electoral success because we believe strongly in inclusion.”
The mobilization drive is anchored on the movement’s philosophy of ‘One Nation, One Community, One Family,’ aimed at building an expansive support base for both President Tinubu’s second-term mandate and Hamzat’s bid to succeed Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Ambode, a former Accountant-General of Lagos State who served as governor between May 2015 and May 2019, lost the party’s 2018 primaries to Sanwo-Olu following an internal political rift.
However, recent realignments show the former governor fully reconciling with the ruling party’s hierarchy and mobilizing his political loyalists to ensure a seamless outing for the APC in the upcoming electoral cycle.
