Nigerian rapper Tochukwu Ojogwu, popularly known as Odumodublvck, has alleged that some artistes in the Nigerian music industry resort to voodoo, popularly called jazz, in their quest to produce hit songs.
The rapper made the allegation during an appearance on the *Tea With Tay* podcast, where he spoke about the difficulty of achieving commercial success in the music industry.
According to him, securing a hit song is not an easy feat, noting that some artistes spend their entire careers without recording a song that achieves major commercial success.
Odumodublvck also praised Grammy-winning singer Burna Boy, Wizkid and Afrobeats star Davido for their consistency in releasing hit songs over the years.
“Getting a hit song is not easy. Sometimes people even do jazz to get one. That is why you see some artists crashing out when they struggle to get a hit.
“Burna Boy, Wizkid and Davido have been dropping hit songs consistently for years.
“You have to respect that. Some artistes never get a hit song throughout their careers,” he said.
His comments have drawn attention to the intense competition within the Nigerian music industry, where commercial success and the ability to consistently produce chart-topping records remain major measures of an artiste’s popularity.
