Apply Now: Green Global Fellowship 2027 Opens for Young Sustainability Advocates
Young people passionate about environmental protection, climate action and sustainable development can now apply for the 2027 Officially Green Global Fellowship organised by The Green Institute.
The fellowship is designed to equip emerging leaders with practical knowledge, leadership skills and advocacy experience to promote sustainability in schools and communities. The February 2027 cohort will welcome applications from eligible young people across different countries who are interested in creating positive environmental change.
Unlike programmes focused solely on academic learning, the Officially Green Global Fellowship emphasises practical community engagement. Selected fellows will be expected to share sustainability knowledge with younger generations, establish environmental clubs in schools and demonstrate measurable impact through their activities.
According to the programme’s official announcement, applicants do not need to be environmental experts or have extensive previous experience. However, they must demonstrate a genuine interest in sustainability and a willingness to fulfil the fellowship’s community-based responsibilities.
What the Officially Green Global Fellowship Offers
The programme provides participants with opportunities to strengthen their knowledge of sustainability while developing practical skills that can support their future careers and community initiatives.
Key benefits include:
Expert-led learning: Opportunities to learn from sustainability experts and thought leaders.
Leadership development: Training and experience in leadership, communication, advocacy and project management.
Practical experience: Hands-on involvement in environmental education and community sustainability projects.
Global networking: Opportunities to connect with young sustainability advocates from different parts of the world.
Certificate of completion: Participants who successfully fulfil all fellowship requirements will receive a certificate.
Project portfolio: Fellows can build a record of their sustainability initiatives and documented community impact.
US$1,000 award: One outstanding fellow may receive a US$1,000 post-fellowship award to support the continuation or expansion of their sustainability initiative.
The US$1,000 award is competitive and is not guaranteed to every participant. Applicants must complete the programme requirements and demonstrate meaningful, documented impact to be considered.
Who Can Apply?
The Officially Green Global Fellowship is open to applicants from all countries who meet the following eligibility requirements:
Must be between 18 and 35 years old at the application deadline.

Must be available to attend designated fellowship conferences and participate actively in learning activities.
Must have reliable internet access.
Must be willing to document their community activities and submit reports showing their progress and impact.
Applicants are not required to have professional qualifications or previous experience in environmental sustainability.
What Will Selected Fellows Be Expected to Do?
The fellowship requires participants to translate their learning into practical environmental initiatives within their communities.
Successful applicants will be expected to:
Establish an Officially Green Club: Set up and maintain a sustainability club in a primary or secondary school, reaching at least 20 young students.
Promote environmental education: Teach students about sustainability and encourage environmentally responsible practices.
Champion sustainability advocacy: Promote the programme’s seven Officially Green pledges through social media and community engagement using the hashtag #OfficiallyGreen.
Participate in learning activities: Complete the compulsory Massive Open Online Course (MOOC), attend designated fellowship conferences and contribute to discussions.
