Ejigbo: KOK Mandate ICG Deploys 372 Polling Booth Ambassadors for Tinubu, Hamzat
The Independent Campaign Group (ICG) of the KOK Mandate Group has deployed 372 Polling Booth Ambassadors (PBAs) across 186 polling units in Ejigbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) to canvass support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Lagos State governorship candidate, Dr Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
At the inauguration and training of the ambassadors on Sunday, the group presented each participant with a N10,000 mobilisation grant to facilitate grassroots engagement.
The group leader and former Chairman of Ejigbo LCDA, Hon. Kehinde Bamigbetan, urged the ambassadors to utilise the funds judiciously for campaign activities, including pasting posters and engaging voters registered with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The group also unveiled 10,000 explainer cards highlighting 50 achievements of President Tinubu to equip the ambassadors with information for voter mobilisation and advocacy in support of his re-election.
It further announced plans to distribute the manifesto of Dr Hamzat, popularly known as KOH, to residents ahead of the governorship election.
Speaking during the training, Bamigbetan explained that the programme would prioritise micro-targeting of verified voters through the INEC register, describing the approach as more cost-effective and time-efficient than conventional door-to-door campaigns and roadshows.
He said the ambassadors would be assigned registered voters in their respective polling units through ward chairmen and provided with booklets to document the outcomes of household engagements.
According to him, the 10-week programme requires each ambassador to cover the entire list of voters assigned to their polling unit, while a secondary team would follow up on unsuccessful engagements.
The data collected, he added, would also guide targeted empowerment initiatives, including the provision of Point-of-Sale (POS) machines and other support programmes.
Bamigbetan, who opened the session by acknowledging party leaders, youth leaders, stakeholders and members, described the KOK Mandate movement as more than an electoral platform, saying it was established to nurture democrats within the All Progressives Congress (APC) and promote the interests of disadvantaged Nigerians.
“Without true democrats, there is no democracy. True democrats respect the will of the majority, while autocratic individuals resort to violence, rigging, or the misuse of power to oppress the people,” he said.
Reflecting on his tenure as Executive Chairman of Ejigbo LCDA, Bamigbetan noted that programmes such as free school uniforms, furniture and meals for pupils had strengthened public goodwill and contributed to electoral support for the party and the KOK Mandate Group.
He stressed the importance of civic education and capacity-building before political office, describing the group as “a laboratory for democracy.”
He also maintained that the movement would remain active beyond elections, insisting that its operations were rooted in sustained political engagement rather than transactional politics.
The Polling Booth Ambassadors initiative operates under the slogan, “PBA – Target the voters; the rest will follow.”
Bamigbetan identified roadshows, door-to-door campaigns and micro-targeting as the three major approaches to voter canvassing, noting that the current programme had adopted micro-targeting because of its precision and efficiency.
During the question-and-answer session, a participant asked whether the ambassadors would also serve as election-day agents.
Bamigbetan clarified that their responsibility was strictly voter canvassing, while the deployment of polling agents remained the duty of the party and its candidates.
Another participant raised concerns about possible difficulties in pasting campaign materials. The former council chairman assured members that adequate provisions had been made to address such challenges.
In his closing remarks, Bamigbetan reaffirmed the group’s commitment to the re-election of President Tinubu and the election of Dr Hamzat as Lagos State governor, urging members to work collectively towards achieving the objectives.
The training is expected to strengthen the KOK Mandate Group’s grassroots mobilisation strategy ahead of the 2027 general elections.
