Nigeria U17 winger Oluwakemi Adegbuyi has acknowledged how tough it is for the Flamingos to enact a 2-0 win against Puerto Rico in the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco.

The teenage sensation won the Player of the match award following her exploits in the encounter against Puerto Rico.

Adegbuyi described the achievement as a special moment in her career, pledging to make her family and the nation proud as Nigeria continue their campaign at the tournament.

The youngster was elated to find the net on football’s biggest stage for her age category, describing the goal as the beginning of what she hopes will be a memorable journey.

“This was my first goal at the World Cup, the biggest stage of my career. I am very excited. This is just the beginning,” Adegbuyi said after her exploits against Puerto Rico.

The victory earned Nigeria their first three points of the competition and strengthened their hopes of progressing to the next stage, following the demands of their opening fixture against Poland.

Adegbuyi acknowledged that the encounter was not an easy one but praised the team’s determination to secure the result, stressing that the players were committed to delivering for the country.

“I promise to make my family and the nation proud. It was not easy, but we did our best to get our first three points,” she added.

The Flamingos will now look to build on the victory as they chase a place in the next round while their fate hangs on their last group game against defending champions, North Korea.
