Nigeria forward, Uchenna Kanu have backed her teammates to get the job done against Comoros in the second leg of the qualifier for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games on Tuesday at the Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne.

Kanu stated this ahead of the Super Falcons’ second-leg encounter against Comoros in the Olympic qualifying series, with Nigeria looking to build on their 2-0 first-leg victory and move closer to securing a place at the Games.

The forward described the prospect of featuring at the Olympics as a major personal ambition, adding that her teammates share the determination to compete on the biggest stage and challenge for the title.

“I think for me, playing on a big stage like the Olympics is huge for me personally. I believe the same for my teammates. We have a goal to not just make it to the Olympics, but also to look at the trophy,” Kanu said at the prematch Press Conference.

Kanu expressed confidence in the team’s current form, unity and readiness to deliver another strong performance.

According to the forward, the atmosphere in camp has been positive, with the players enjoying their preparations and remaining focused on the task ahead.

“You know, I think we have a good team. I think we’ve been preparing and we’ve been doing well. The team right now is in a good place, and it’s been fun in camp so far, and I think we’ve all been enjoying it and looking forward to the game tomorrow.”

Kanu also revealed that the Super Falcons would approach the encounter with an attacking mindset, aiming to secure another victory and score as many goals as possible.

“We want to win, like the coach said, we want to win well. We want to score as many goals as possible. And we’re looking forward to that, and we’re preparing as well.”

The forward further highlighted Nigeria’s pedigree in women’s football, and that qualification for the Olympics remains a major objective for a team with a proud history of competing at international tournaments.

“So the Olympics generally, Nigeria, the Super Falcons team, is one team that has done so much when it comes to football, when it comes to qualifying for major tournaments, and I think qualifying for the Olympics is something that we are looking forward to, and we are all ready for it.”

The Super Falcons have represented Nigeria at several major competitions, including the FIFA Women’s World Cup and the Olympic Games, and will be eager to qualify for the Olympic stage after missing out on the World Cup.

Nigeria will be hoping to overcome Comoros in the return leg and continue their pursuit of a place at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
