Afrobeats singer Victor AD has publicly apologised to his senior colleague, Tiwa Savage, over an unreleased remix of his hit song, Wetin We Gain, which featured a verse from the award-winning singer.
Victor AD, whose real name is Victor Adere, issued the apology in an open letter shared on his social media page, admitting that he should have addressed the matter earlier and taking responsibility for how the collaboration turned out.
The singer thanked Tiwa Savage for contributing to the remix but expressed regret that the song was never released despite the effort and creativity she invested in it.
“An Open Letter to Mama Jam Jam, @TiwaSavage, I should have done this a long time ago, but it’s never too late to take accountability for my actions,” he wrote.
He added, “Thank you, Mama, for blessing my song ‘Wetin We Gain’ with a verse. Unfortunately, the remix never saw the light of day.”
Victor AD said he could offer several explanations for why the remix was not released, but maintained that none would outweigh the work Tiwa Savage put into the project.
“I could go on and on explaining why it didn’t happen, but none of those explanations matters more than the genuine effort, love, and creativity you poured into making the song beautiful. For that, I’m truly sorry about how things turned out,” he said.
Beyond the apology, the singer praised Tiwa Savage for her contributions to Afrobeats and the opportunities she had helped create for other artistes.
He described her impact on the music industry as undeniable and said he would not take her contribution to his career for granted.
In her response, Tiwa Savage accepted the apology warmly, saying she held no hard feelings over the matter.
“I appreciate this. God knows the reason for everything. All love,” she replied.
The exchange has brought renewed attention to the unreleased collaboration, with both artistes publicly expressing appreciation and goodwill despite the song never making it to release.
