AFCON 2027 Race: Victory Over Nigeria Demonstrates Guinea Bissau Strength – Emiliano Té

Guinea Bissau coach, Emiliano Té has revealed that the win against Nigeria has shown the strength and progress achieved since he resumed as the manager of the national team.

The Djurtus thrashed the Super Eagles 3-0 at the the 24th of September Stadium to maintain their leadership position on tbe Group L of the 2027 AFCON qualifiers

Té attributed the win against Nigeria to the tremendous job done on the team and also a step towards reaching the 2027 AFCON.

“It’s a journey to reach the African Cup of Nations. The victory against Nigeria demonstrates that the national team is doing well and will continue to evolve in the upcoming matches,” Té told the media at the postmatch press conference.

He said the Djurtus were tactically better and created more chances than Nigeria in the 3-0 win.

“Every game has its own story. You need to play tactical football, create better scoring opportunities, and always believe that you can do more and better, regardless of the opponent.”

Guinea Bissau leads the Group L table with six points from two games while Nigeria follows suit with three points in two matches. Madagascar and Tanzania both have a point apiece.

Tanzania is already qualified as a co-host, so in Group L only the highest-placed team among Nigeria, Guinea-Bissau and Madagascar will claim the additional qualifying spot.

Nigeria’s next game is the double header against Tanzania, where the first leg comes up on Wednesday, November 11 at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo.

While the second leg is scheduled to take place on November 15 at the Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar.
