AFCON 2027 Race: Guinea Bissau Spank Super Eagles

Guniea Bissau have put a dent on Nigeria’s hopes of qualifying for the 2027 Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON) with a 3-0 home win at the Estádio Nacional 24 de Setembro, Bissau.

The Super Eagles were a shadow of their selves as the Djurtus utilized their chances to stun the away team.

Franculino Dju, Mama Balde and Alvaro Djalo secured the hard-fought win for Guinea Bissau against Nigeria on home soil.

Unsurprisingly, the Djurtus dominated the opening proceedings of the game and got the lead from a left footed strike from Franculino Dju in the 15th minute.

Nigeria struggled to get their rhythm which was obstructed by the bad nature of the pitch.

One goal separated both sides going to the break as the hosts frustrated the away team.

Balde doubled Guinea Bissau lead in the 66th minute. Nigeria side were far from their best against the Djurtus that played to the strength of a familiar terrain.

Djalo compounded the Super Eagles worries with a 90th minute goal to strengthen the Djurtus lead and seal their second three points in the AFCON qualifiers.

Guinea Bissau top the Group L table with six points from two matches while Nigeria are left with only three points from two games.
