Call for Applications: FoodTech 500 2026 for AgriFoodTech Startups and Scaleups
Applications are now open for the FoodTech 500 2026, a global ranking and recognition opportunity for startups and scaleups using technology to transform agriculture, food production and the wider food system.
Organised by Forward Fooding, the FoodTech 500 identifies innovative companies operating at the intersection of food, technology and sustainability, giving selected businesses international visibility and access to a global AgriFoodTech network.
Applications for the 2026 edition are open to companies at different stages, from early-stage startups to more established scaleups, provided they meet the programme’s eligibility requirements.
The application deadline is November 15, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. CET, although Forward Fooding says it reserves the right to close applications earlier if submission volumes are high.
About FoodTech 500
The FoodTech 500 is described by Forward Fooding as the global benchmark for entrepreneurial companies working across food, agriculture, technology and sustainability.
Since its launch in 2019, the initiative has received more than 11,700 applications and showcased more than 2,500 AgriFoodTech startups and scaleups, with companies from more than 95 countries represented among previous winners.
The 2026 edition introduces an updated assessment framework focused on three major areas: business viability, innovation and differentiation, and sustainability. The assessment also considers evidence of commercial traction, technological differentiation and a company’s contribution to a more sustainable and inclusive food system.
Who Can Apply?
The opportunity is open to startups and scaleups operating anywhere in the world within the AgriFoodTech sector.
To qualify, a company must:
- Be an incorporated business.
- Have an active company website.
- Be less than 15 years old.
- Operate within the AgriFoodTech sector.
- Use technology to improve efficiency and/or sustainability in designing, producing, choosing, delivering or enjoying food.
Both early-stage and more established businesses can apply.

How Companies Are Assessed
For 2026, the FoodTech 500 will assess applicants across three key dimensions.
Business Viability: This considers evidence of commercial validation, including customers, pilots, deployments and market presence.
Innovation and Differentiation: This examines the company’s technology, solution, originality and defensibility.
Sustainability: This evaluates the company’s contribution to building a more sustainable and inclusive food system, including its wider social and environmental impact.
Applicants are encouraged to provide current information because the 2026 ranking uses verified data on areas such as customers, markets, funding, deployments and partnerships.
Previous FoodTech 500 honourees must also submit a fresh application to be considered for the 2026 edition.
