‘I Look Amazing, Is That Your Problem?’ Moyo Lawal Replies Age-Shamer

Nollywood actress Moyo Lawal has responded to an online critic who questioned why she remains active in the entertainment industry and accused her of denying younger actresses opportunities.

The man, in a comment directed at the actress, allegedly questioned why Lawal had not retired from acting, claiming she was “not giving younger hoes a chance” to establish themselves in the industry.

Lawal fired back at the comment, questioning whether the critic’s remarks were motivated by her appearance and addressing aspects of her past relationship.

“You are pained because I look amazing? Because I left a man who’s feeble brain could not stand losing me and tried to destroy me at a time? Me and sleeping around has nothing in common,” the actress wrote in response.

The actress’ response comes amid continued public scrutiny of celebrities over their age, appearance, careers and personal lives, particularly on social media.

Lawal has previously faced intense online attention following the leak of an intimate video involving her in 2023. She has since repeatedly pushed back against attempts to shame or define her based on her private life.

The latest exchange has once again drawn attention to the pressure faced by female entertainers over their age and continued presence in an industry where younger talents are constantly emerging.

Lawal, however, has continued to maintain her presence in Nollywood while responding to criticism directed at her career and personal life.
