Harmony Chidi Shares Flamingos Wafu-B U17 Women’s Cup Success Story

Nigeria U17 women’s national team captain, Harmony Chidi has unveiled her excitement following the team’s recent title win of the 2026 Wafu-B U17 Women’s Cup at Yammouskro, Ivory Coast.
The Flamingos recorded an unbeaten record in five matches to hit their first regional competition after missing out on last edition’s title win to Ghana in the final.
The elated Harmony said it wasn’t an easy ride to clinch the title without recording any loss to other powerhouse in West Africa.
“I feel so happy because it is not easy defeating people in this league,” she said.
She narrated her fulfilled moment in the tournament, is when Nigeria defeated previous winners, Ghana and hosts, Ivory Coast.
“One of my major achievements is defeating Ghana and also Ivory Coast, and it makes me excited.”
The Nigeria captain is optimistic, the form of the team will spur them to perform beyond expectations at the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco.
“With this spirit, we will take it to the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco and make Nigeria proud.”
Nigeria won the 2026 Wafu-B U17 Women’s Cup with a perfect run of 15 points in five games, scored 17 goals and conceded two.
Flamingos will head back to Nigeria and strengthen their preparation towards the FIFA U17 Women’s Cup which will be held from October 17 to November 7.
