Doctor Warns Men Against Excessive Sexual Activity, Urges Regular Heart Checks
A medical expert, Dr Richard Okoye, has urged men to avoid excessive sexual activity and undergo regular medical check-ups, particularly for cardiovascular health.
Okoye gave the advice while delivering a paper titled, “Managing Stress, Deadlines and Personal Wellbeing,” at the 22nd All Nigeria Editors Conference (ANEC) held at the International Conference Centre, Enugu.
The Founder and Chief Medical Director of Save A Life Hospital, Port Harcourt, said sexual activity places demands on the cardiovascular system, cautioning men against what he described as excessive sexual exertion.
He warned that men should not engage in repeated sexual activity merely to impress their partners, particularly where underlying cardiovascular conditions may be present.
Okoye advised individuals to undergo regular medical examinations to detect potential heart-related problems early and reduce the risk of complications.
He also disclosed that his hospital had developed digital medical devices and ambulances equipped with technology that enables doctors to remotely monitor and assess patients in real time.
According to him, the innovations would allow medical professionals to complement treatment provided at the point of care, irrespective of their location.
Okoye said the initiative was also aimed at reducing medical tourism and addressing the migration of Nigerian medical professionals by strengthening access to technology-driven healthcare services locally.
