Movie Critic Questions Eniola Ajao’s Acting Talent, Actress Responds

Nollywood actress Eniola Ajao has reacted after movie critic Tolu Fagbure publicly questioned her acting ability and described her talent in dismissive terms.
The controversy followed Fagbure’s appearance on Agbaletu, where he was asked to share his assessment of Ajao’s career and her place in the Nigerian film industry.
Responding to the question, Fagbure said he did not believe Ajao had a place in cinema, while also criticising her performance in her movie, Ajakaju.
“I don’t think her acting has a place. I don’t think that is acting at all,” he said.
The critic further described Ajao’s delivery as “plastic” and said her physical appearance was the major quality he believed worked in her favour.
“The only thing she has going for her is her fine face; that’s admirable,” Fagbure said.
He went further to question whether Ajao possessed the talent required for acting, saying he did not think she had developed such talent into the necessary skill.
Fagbure also linked Ajao to fellow Nollywood actor Odunlade Adekola, saying she was “from the same block” as the popular actor.
The comments have since attracted attention among movie fans and followers of the actress, with Ajao responding to the criticism rather than allowing the remarks to go unanswered.
The actress’s reaction has added another layer to the debate over acting ability, criticism and the standards used to assess performances in Nollywood.
