U20 Women’s World Cup: Colombia Ends Nigeria’s Campaign

Colombia have knocked out Nigeria from the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup at the Stadion Miejski LKS Lodz in Poland.

Nigeria were the dominant team in the game with 14 attempts at goal against the meagre five attempts of Colombia

Valerin Loboa late goal sealed Nigeria’s exit from the tournament despite dominating the proceedings.

The Falconets got off to a good start as striker, Janet Akekoromowei effort from the edge of the 18 yard box hit the woodwork.

Left back, Tumininu Adeshina long range strike saw the Colombian goalkeeper tipping the ball over the goal post to earn a corner kick to Nigeria.

Falconets continued their dominance in the game but failed to hit the back of the net in the first 45 minutes.

Coming off the break, Nigeria pegged the Colombians to their own half while distributing passes and finding the breakthrough which didn’t come by.

The trajectory of the encounter changed when Falconets were reduced to 10 players following the red card issued to midfielder, Kafayat Mafisere for showing the studs of her boot which went up too high.

Colombia became more confident and grew up in the game following their numerical advantage while Nigeria struggled to connect passes in the game.

Loboa stunned the Falconets with a late goal which completely defined the game to Colombia advantage and finally sent Nigeria out of the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup.
