U20 Women’s World Cup: Aduku Reveals What Led To Falconets Victory Against England

Nigeria U20 women’s national team head coach, Moses Aduku has unveiled what led to England’s defeat in the round of 16 of the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup.

Falconets shocked the Young Lionesses with a 3-0 thumping victory at the Stadion Miejski Bielsko-Biala in Poland.

Aduku lauded England for their brave fight but said what made the Falconets to win the game was the resilience, determination and sheer will of not giving up.

He added, Nigeria converter their chances which spurred his side to the win against a formidable opponent.

“The English team is a good side, but we were determined. We had our chances and we took them. That is what decided the game. The World Cup has just started for us,” Aduku said to the Press after the game in Poland.

The tactician gave a snippet of how they will approach the quarter final game with the level of confidence in the team despite their slow start to the World U20 women’s showpiece.

“What we go into the quarter-finals with is the mentality to go again and do better. We take every game a step at a time.”

Falconets will take on Colombia in the quarter-finals of the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup. The highly anticipated knockout match is scheduled to kick off on Sunday, September 20, 2026 at the Stadion Miejski LKS Lodz in Poland.

Colombia edged hosts, Poland by a goal to scale through to the quarter final.

Nigeria have found the back of the net 13 times, allowed in three goals while ensuring two clean sheets in four games.

Falconets last reached the quarter final of the U20 Women’s World Cup in the 2022 edition hosted by Costa Rica where they lost 2-0 to Netherlands at the Estadio Alejandro Morera Soto, Alajuela.
