Dikko Expressed Optimism Regarding Future Of Nigeria Football

The chairman of National Sports Commission (NSC), Shehu Dikko is optimistic of a brighter future for Nigeria football following meeting with FIFA President, Gianni Infantino in Switzerland with other delegates from the country.

Following the mass resignation of immediate former NFF executive members led by Ibrahim Gusau and Mohammed Sanusi, the NSC has taken over the structure of Nigeria football while laying a foundation for a renewed plan in revitalizing it.

Dikko remains confident that Nigeria football will return with a new vigour with a more sophisticated structure when the NSC is done with its consultation.

“There is no doubt that Nigerian football will emerge stronger and better structured after the conclusion of this process,” Dikko said.

He said the reforms of Nigeria football is presently been discussed with CAF and FIFA representatives to finalize a favourable decision for all parties involved.

“Mutual engagement among the National Sports Commission, the NFF administration and the Confederation of African Football is ongoing with FIFA on the comprehensive reforms of Nigerian football, including the agreement of a roadmap in accordance with the relevant rules, regulations and statutes.”

The process currently underway is set to shape the future of Nigerian football administration, ensuring that any reforms aligns with FIFA, CAF and NFF statutes and regulations.

The Nigerian delegation included the NSC Director-General, Hon. Bukola Olopade; former NFF President and former FIFA Council Member Amaju Pinnick, who attended in his official capacity as Special Adviser to the CAF President and Deputy Chairman of the FIFA Men’s National Teams’ Competitions Committee; NFF Acting General Secretary, Dr. Emmanuel Ikpeme; and NFF Director of Legal Services, Okey Obi, Esq.
