$25,000+ Grant: Fast Forward Opens 2027 Accelerator for Tech Nonprofits
For nonprofit founders building technology to solve everyday problems, one of the biggest challenges is often not coming up with an idea.
it is finding the money, expertise and connections needed to turn that idea into something that can reach more people.
That is where the Fast Forward Accelerator 2027 is offering a potential lifeline.
Fast Forward is accepting applications from early-stage technology nonprofits seeking funding and practical support to grow their solutions and increase their social impact.
Applications opened on August 17, 2026, and will close on September 7, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time.
The selected organisations will receive at least $25,000 in unrestricted funding, giving founders flexibility to spend the money where it is most needed rather than being restricted to a specific project.
But the financial support is only part of the opportunity.
Participants will enter a three-month programme designed to help them tackle some of the challenges that can prevent promising nonprofits from growing. This includes support in product development, fundraising, impact measurement, go-to-market strategy, board development and nonprofit management.
They will also gain access to mentors, technology experts and a wider network of founders working on social-impact solutions.
For a small nonprofit founder trying to transform an idea into a sustainable organisation, those relationships could prove just as valuable as the grant itself.
The programme will also give participants an opportunity to showcase their work during Demo Day, where they can present their organisations and growth plans to potential supporters and members of the technology and social-impact communities.
Who Is Eligible?
The opportunity is targeted at early-stage nonprofits where technology or AI plays a central role in solving a social or environmental problem.
Applicants do not have to be based in the United States. International organisations can apply, provided they are registered as nonprofits in their home countries.
However, for-profit companies and social enterprises are not eligible for the programme.
Applicants are generally expected to have a minimum viable product (MVP) already in development or expect to have one by the start of the accelerator.
Fast Forward also considers factors such as the strength of the founding team, technology expertise, scalability, potential social impact and the founders’ understanding of the problem they are trying to solve.
The programme is not limited to one particular sector. Nonprofits working in areas including health, education, climate, economic empowerment, civic engagement and other social-impact fields can be considered.
Key Dates for Applicants
Applications for the 2027 cohort close on September 7, 2026.
Fast Forward expects to conduct interviews between October and December 2026, with successful applicants expected to be notified before the end of the year.
The accelerator is scheduled to run from late February to early June 2027, followed by Demo Day around late May or early June.
Fast Forward says its network has grown to more than 100 tech nonprofits, allowing new participants to join a community of organisations using technology to tackle major social challenges.
For African nonprofit founders with solutions that could improve lives but need funding and expert guidance to scale, the programme offers more than a cheque.
It offers capital, mentorship, exposure and a network that could help turn a promising local solution into a much bigger impact.
Eligible organisations can submit their applications through Fast Forward’s official Accelerator page.
