Nollywood actor and filmmaker, Kunle Omisore, has recounted what he described as an unusual encounter in which he was allegedly invited to a witchcraft meeting to settle a dispute.

Omisore made the disclosure during a recent interview on the African A-List podcast, where he also spoke about how witches are portrayed in Nollywood films.

According to the actor, he was allegedly summoned to the meeting after a member of the group accused him of damaging something that belonged to her.

He said he attended the meeting to present his side of the matter, despite claiming that he did not understand the allegation against him.

“One of them reported me. She said I offended her, and I was summoned. I went to explain my own side of the issue,” Omisore said.

He added that he told the leader of the group that he had never met the woman who made the allegation and therefore could not have damaged anything belonging to her.

Omisore also claimed that he saw several people at the gathering, including some carrying calabashes on their heads.

Reflecting on his experience, the actor said his alleged encounter had influenced his perception of how witch characters are portrayed in Nigerian films.

He argued that the appearance of witches in Nollywood movies does not reflect what he claimed to have witnessed.

“If I want to shoot a movie with a witch character, I have never seen a witch that paints their face like the one in a Nigerian movie,” he said.

According to him, the people he allegedly saw at the gathering were dressed in traditional iro and buba, rather than the costumes and facial makeup commonly associated with witches in Nollywood productions.

Omisore maintained that his experience had given him a different perspective on the subject, while stressing that witches exist.
