Exclusive: Tosan Blankson Quits Women’s Football As Elite Men’s Teams Chase His Signature

Former Rivers Angels tactician, Tosan Bob Blankson has formally quited women’s football as elite men’s teams sought his signature.
Blankson has refined his elegant status as a top coach in Nigeria. He remains the only gaffer to have won the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership title with an unbeaten record where he led Delta Queens to the title in 2023 at the Super Six in Asaba.
During his two year spell at Rivers Angels, Blankson guided Rivers Angels to the Federation Cup title in 2025 at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos.
The gaffer’s wealth of experience with proven expertise is set to be benefitted by men’s football as the NWFL club’s sides couldn’t table an efficient offer to convince the Delta State born coach.
Blankson was highly instrumental in putting the Apex Crane on the second-division map. He originally took over the team in 2019 and famously qualified them from the amateur Nationwide League One (NL0) up to the second-tier Nigeria National League (NNL).
He subsequently remained in charge as head coach to guide them through their NNL campaigns, managing the team during the competitive 2020/2021 NNL season against veteran second-division sides like Bendel Insurance, Gateway United, and Crown FC.
Blankson served as the head coach for Delta Force FC back in 2017. During this specific period, the Asaba-based club was competing in the Nigeria National League (NNL).
