Temitope Adeshina Clinch Commonwealth Games High Jump Bronze

Nigerian high jumper Temitope Simbiat Adeshina has won bronze in the women’s high jump final at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow after clearing 1.90 metres.
Australia’s Eleanor Patterson took gold with a Games record of 1.96m, while her compatriot Nicola Olyslagers claimed silver with 1.93m.
The podium finish marks a significant step forward for the 27-year-old, who finished 10th on her Commonwealth Games debut in Birmingham four years ago. It also gives Team Nigeria its second athletics medal of the day, following Kanyinsola Ajayi’s bronze in the men’s 100m.
Adeshina, the Nigerian national record holder with a personal best of 1.97m first set in Eugene in 2024, has established herself as one of Africa’s leading high jumpers in recent years. She claimed silver medals at the African Athletics Championships in 2022 (Saint Pierre, Mauritius) and 2024 (Douala), and is a multiple Nigerian national champion.
A standout performer in the NCAA system for Texas Tech University, Adeshina won both the indoor and outdoor collegiate titles in 2026 and competed for Nigeria at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Her consistency at the top level including multiple clearances of her national record height underlines the progress that has now delivered a Commonwealth medal.
