Woman Arrested for Allegedly Stabbing Boyfriend, Severing His Manhood in Kano
The Kano State Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old woman for allegedly stabbing her boyfriend and severing his manhood after reportedly discovering that he planned to marry another woman.
The Command’s spokesperson, CSP Abdullahi Haruna-Kiyawa, disclosed in a statement on Monday that the incident occurred at Durbar Hotel in the Badawa area of Kano.
According to him, the hotel management alerted the police at about 12:50 p.m., prompting the Divisional Police Officer of Badawa Division to lead a team of detectives to the scene.
Police said preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect, a resident of Maigatari Local Government Area of Jigawa State, allegedly attacked the victim with a sharp knife during an altercation, completely severing his manhood.
The suspect was arrested at the scene, while the knife allegedly used in the attack was recovered as evidence.
The victim was immediately rushed to Abubakar Imam Urology Hospital, where he is currently receiving medical treatment. Police said investigations into the incident are ongoing.
In a separate development, the Kano State Police Command also confirmed the arrest of three suspects, including a husband, his wife, and another man, over the alleged killing of 30-year-old Abubakar Auwal.
Haruna-Kiyawa said the victim was allegedly lured by two male suspects and others over accusations that he was involved in a relationship with the wife of one of the suspects.
He was reportedly beaten into a coma before being taken to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, where he was confirmed dead by doctors. His body has been deposited in the hospital mortuary for an autopsy.
The Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu-Bakori, condemned both incidents, warning members of the public against taking the law into their own hands.
He stressed that criminal allegations should be reported to the police, who are constitutionally empowered to investigate and prosecute offenders through due process.
